Planning for literacy events this term?

Our literacy projects provide an inspiring environment for children to actively participate and explore the wonderful world of books. During the sessions children are encouraged to explore characters and enrich storylines with their own creations. Using drama, music and movement children become part of the narrative and get an overall "live" experience of it. See some examples below:

Roald Dahl - KS2
This project revisits Dahl's classics including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, Matilda and The BFG. Children build their own Willy Wonka sweet machine making sweets designed by them and to the tune of an Oompa Loompa song created in the session. They may also create a Witches Council to come up with 'terrible schemes' for trapping children and a Matilda story-circle where all characters appear as if by magic.

Spike Milligan - KS1 & KS2
With the Specialist in role of a very flustered Tour Guide, children are taken on a journey to the Land of Bumbly Boo, where they meet the feared Hipporhinostricow and delve into the bizarre world of the Ning Nang Nong.

Michael Rosen - KS1 & KS2
Using song and movement children go on a bear hunt lead by the Artis Specialist, they sing and move to Rosen's Jibber Jabber and develop their own 'Rosen-esque' speak. They also enact verses from Down Behind the Dustbin and The Seagulls Think We Live at the Seaside.
